Belts and pulleys specified together

A timing belt and its pulley are one specification in two parts: the pitch fixes the tooth form both must share, the width fixes the belt and the pulley face together, and the pulley's bore and tooth count finish the drive. Belts and pulleys belong in one specification because the range supplies them together — timing belts in rubber and PU, belt widths from 10 to 50 mm and pitches of 3 and 5 mm, plus 2GT and GT2 open timing belts — and because an order that splits the belt from the pulley invites a pitch mismatch that neither part shows on its own.

Industrial drives, not engine timing

One clarification belongs here because the search phrase carries it: these are industrial synchronous belts — the drives of printers, small CNC axes, packaging machinery and automation — not automotive engine timing belts. The frame is the industrial one: open belts cut to length for linear drives, looped belts for rotary drives, and pulleys in the matching pitches. A buyer arriving with an engine application will not find its belt system in this frame, and the inquiry is better spent on the pulley and bushing lines if the drive is a general industrial one.

Open belt or looped belt

Open timing belt is bought by length and clamped at both ends, which is the linear-axis pattern: a gantry or a carriage drives back and forth along a fixed belt run. Looped belt is a closed circuit for rotary drive between two pulleys. The two are priced differently — by the metre against by the piece — and the inquiry should say which form each line takes, with the run length for open belt and the loop length or centre distance for looped. Pulley tooth counts belong in the same lines, since belt and pulley are settled together.

Specifying a belt and pulley order

State the pitch, the width and the form for each belt, the tooth count and bore for each pulley, and the quantities. Where the drive already exists, the old belt's printed designation is the fastest specification there is — copy it into the inquiry exactly. Where the drive is new, the motor and layout details in a sentence each let the belt length be checked against the pulley pair rather than discovered at assembly.
