Ceramic Ball Bearings
Full ceramic and hybrid ceramic bearings in silicon nitride and zirconia, for the positions where steel corrodes, conducts or simply runs too heavy.

Full ceramic and hybrid ceramic
The family comes in two constructions. Full ceramic bearings run ceramic rings and ceramic balls together; hybrid ceramic bearings pair steel or stainless rings with ceramic balls. The split matters because it prices and behaves differently: the hybrid keeps a conventional ring set and takes the ceramic advantage at the rolling contact, while the full ceramic build extends the same material logic to every working surface. The all-ceramic construction has its own detail page, and ceramic, hybrid and steel are sorted side by side on the compare page.
| Construction | Rings | Rolling elements | Cages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full ceramic | Ceramic | Ceramic balls | Steel, polymer or ceramic |
| Hybrid ceramic | Bearing steel or stainless steel | Ceramic balls | Steel, polymer or ceramic |
Ceramic materials: silicon nitride and zirconia
Two ceramic materials run across the family: silicon nitride, written Si3N4, and zirconia, written ZrO2. Precision grades P0, P6, P5 and P4 and metric, inch and customised sizes apply across the family, the same frame as the steel range, so a ceramic item can be specified in the same sentence structure as a steel one: size, construction, material, grade. Ceramic bearing balls are also sold on their own under transmission parts, in ZrO2 from 1 to 12 mm, for buyers building or servicing their own assemblies.
Where ceramic earns its place
The application areas are the ones where the material difference is the point: electric motors and generators, CNC machine tools and spindles, pumps and compressors, robotics and automation, semiconductor and clean equipment, medical and laboratory equipment, chemical and corrosive environments, and high-speed equipment generally. If none of those pressures is present, the steel family is the economical answer; ceramic is specified where the environment or the speed makes steel the compromise.
