Why stainless, and where it runs

Chrome steel is the economical bearing material until water arrives. Stainless steel trades some hardness headroom for corrosion resistance, and this line is the range's answer for electric motors in damp plants, pumps, food processing equipment, marine equipment and medical equipment — the steel family's core application list. The stainless line mirrors the deep groove series structure, so a chrome steel item usually has a stainless counterpart at the same nominal size, and the conversion is a material decision rather than a redesign.

The headline items: S607ZZ and S607-2RS

The line's headline recommended products are the S607ZZ and S607-2RS stainless bearings — the same bearing under the family's two standard closures, a metal shield on the ZZ and a rubber seal on the 2RS. They are a useful template for the whole line: pick the size, pick the grade, pick the closure. Work through the seals guide for what each closure keeps out and what it costs in friction, and the grades guide for the four grades side by side.

Options on the stainless line

The stainless line runs inside the steel family's option frame: open, ZZ or 2RS closures or customised sealing; clearance C0, C2 or C3 or customised; precision inside the P0 to P4 frame; metric and inch sizes. Two points deserve a line in the inquiry. The first is the grade, because SS304 and SS316L are not interchangeable in a chlorinated washdown. The second is the closure, because a sealed bearing in a wet duty is usually the point of ordering stainless at all.

Stainless bearing, stainless unit, or plastic

Three lines answer wet duties in this range, and they answer different mountings. The loose bearing comes first: a stainless deep groove item that drops into an existing housing. The stainless mounted units answer where the housing itself is exposed and must not rust. The plastic bearing family answers where even stainless is the wrong material — constant immersion, chemical washdown, or a no-metal requirement. Naming the mounting in the inquiry routes the item to the right line the first time.

One ordering habit saves a round of messages on this line: name the grade in words next to the code, not only inside it. Codes travel between systems and get re-keyed; a grade written out beside the code survives the re-keying, and the item that arrives is the grade the application was specified around.
